{"id":18,"date":"2012-04-20T13:13:36","date_gmt":"2012-04-20T11:13:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theband.at\/?p=18"},"modified":"2012-06-12T09:40:25","modified_gmt":"2012-06-12T07:40:25","slug":"custom-rom-for-my-htc-chacha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dubidu.io\/?p=18","title":{"rendered":"custom ROM for my HTC ChaCha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I really like my ChaCha, but one thing I got really fed up with is that it runs out of memory very often, so I can&#8217;t install some apps, like Instagramm or can&#8217;t update to the newest version of Google Maps. So after researching it a bit, I decided to install a custom ROM, SuperDroid, that would allow me to remove some of the built-in apps like Facebook and add a few others like Link2SD.<\/p>\n<p>So I began, and altough my phone was S-ON, for whatever that means, which supposedly makes it more difficult to root it, I succeeded by doing this: (I exclude all the missteps and stepbacks, so it seems like one seamless, easy process, which, believe me, it was not)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Converted a microSD card to a <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.xda-developers.com\/showthread.php?t=970157--------------------------------------------------------------------------------\">gold card<\/a>, so I can flash another version of the ROM, than the one, that I had.<\/li>\n<li>Installed the newest HBoot from <a href=\"http:\/\/htcdev.com\/bootloader\/\">HTCs Dev <\/a>site. (RUU_blabla.exe, before the actual unlocking begins)<\/li>\n<li>Unlocked the Bootloader, as discribed in great detail on HTCs Dev site.<\/li>\n<li>Installed CWM as described <a href=\"http:\/\/www.computertechplace.com\/unlock-and-root-htc-chacha\/\">in this post<\/a>, the XDA method failed me.<\/li>\n<li>Installed my SuperUser.zip as described in same post.<\/li>\n<li>Installed the SuperDroid ROM as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.addictivetips.com\/mobile\/download-android-2-3-3-gingerbread-superdroid-rom-for-htc-chacha\/\">described here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, I&#8217;ve been using it for a day now, and&#8230; IT COMPLETELY SUCKS!!! The phone is slow, drains battery, SMS take 2 minutes (yes that&#8217;s 120 seconds) to load, and contacts don&#8217;t display correctly!<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately it&#8217;s not easily possible to reinstall the stock ROM, since the HTC Rom Updater won&#8217;T flash, for security reasons.
